Vindi Banga, CD&R Operating Partner, addressed the Lord Mayor’s Finance for Impact Summit to discuss the importance of investing for impact and private capital’s role in supporting best practice. Mr. Banga addressed leaders of finance, business, governments and other global institutions to discuss how to scale capital to deliver positive and measurable social outcomes. The event was also streamed to a live global audience.
Speaking on the panel Towards an industry-led set of priorities for scaling finance for impact, Mr. Banga shared his view that “the best companies have always focused on impact,” and successful delivery of an ESG strategy must be driven from within a business. Mr. Banga argued in favor of the role investors can play in supporting ESG outcomes in business, highlighting the long-term, transformational capital that private investment firms provide. He emphasized that as ESG plays an increasing role in the world we live in and environment businesses compete in, he believes significant value can be created by supporting ESG initiatives.
Mr. Banga joined CD&R as an Operating Partner in 2010, after a 33-year career at Unilever where he led their sustainability agenda in his role as executive board member and president of Global Foods, Home & Personal Care. Based in London, he has played the lead operating role in a number of CD&R's investments and helped establish the Firm's joint venture in India.
